Artist Marilyn Blitz
About the Artist
For the last eight years, watercolor artist Marilyn Blitz has been studying and painting in Palm Desert, California and Vashon Island, Washington.
Her solo show in June of last year at the Back Bay Inn was very successful, and her winter's work in Palm Desert has garnered a few new ribbons.
This year's focus has been on "The Mission Project", a watercolor study of the twenty-one California Missions. She and long time friend, Barbara Biber Janeff, have been traveling and painting together and hope to have the series completed in 2009.
Last October Marilyn traveled to San Luis Potosi, Mexico, visiting friends, exploring the unique high desert towns of Central Mexico, and getting in a little plein air painting of the charming historic plazas of old San Luis Potosi.
In the works is a Vashon Barn Project, large acrylic paintings of some of the island's historic and rustic barns.
