About the Artist
For the past nine years, watercolor artist Marilyn Blitz has been studying and painting in Palm Desert, California and Vashon Island, Washington.
Her solo show in June of last year at the Back Bay Inn was very successful, and her winter's work in Palm Desert has garnered new awards.
This year she has been working with acrylics on canvas and the paintings are homage to the unique new, old and sometimes historic barns of Vashon Island. The colorful paintings can be seen at The Hardware Store Restaurant, downtown Vashon, September 4 through September 27. "Barnspotting on Vashon" opens with an Artist Reception on Friday, Sept. 4 at 5 p.m.
"The Mission Project", a watercolor study of the twenty-one California Missions, is almost complete. Long time friend, Barbara Biber Janeff, and she have been traveling and painting the missions together and will complete the series with the last 3 this year.
